Recently, I attended an American Society of Interior Designer’s Excellence in Design Awards Gala for the Carolinas Chapter which includes both North Carolina and South Carolina. I am so very proud and excited to tell you that I won First Place in the Residential Singular Space category!
The project that I chose to enter in this category was the Forest Acres project I completed last summer.

As I sat in the room filled with some of the best of the best in the design world I felt a little overwhelmed. As photos of their work flashed across the large screen I sat in awe of the beautiful spaces they created, and honestly if I had only received an Honorable Mention I would have been happy. To actually win First prize was beyond my wildest dreams especially after witnessing the caliber of projects that had been entered. It is extremely encouraging and honoring to be recognized by my peers, and I am humbled.
Of course, the project was a group effort and I couldn’t have done it without Priscilla Lamkin, my seamstress, Mike Khouri and David Abbott, contractors from Community Builders. And I certainly couldn’t have done it without the clients! I am very grateful that they trusted me with their home and want to thank them for being so fantastic to work with. You guys are the best!!!
To the right is Susan Carson, President of the ASID Carolinas Chapter posing with me after the awards ceremony. I want to thank Susan and everyone involved with the awards gala for making this night so special. I’m truly honored to have been a part of this special occasion.
Wow, I’m still in a little bit of shock. 🙂
